My copy doesn't have the letter, p 36 shows 1970 Berkshire Meeting of Board of Directors document (though note about BPL dissolving on the side), p 37 is a 1973 BH letter announcing its not just a textile company.
Hi Jeff - My copy is the expanded edition of the 50th anniversary book that could be purchased directly from Berkshire via eBay. Is yours the original first edition from 2015? That's very interesting that the '69 letter wasn't in the original version of the book.
I don't think it mentions that. I'd be happy to send you photos of the complete six-page letter so that you have a copy if you're interested. Just message me your email and I'll send that over.
I was just browsing through the 50th anniversary book the other day. It’s strange how it’s not more widely read and discussed given that everything in it is implicitly endorsed by Buffett!
I didn't have high expectations when I ordered it, but the 50th anniversary is actually pretty amazing. So many archival details and documents that I'd never seen before. In particular, I had to laugh at how Buffett still seems mad at Seabury Stanton after all of these years! (And I either didn't know or had forgotten the pivotal role Stanton's own brother played in selling control of Berkshire to BPL. Seabury must have been a pretty unlikable guy, haha.)
I'm actually going to be writing a little bit about how great this book is in my Friday newsletter.

Yep. Does the letter mention the Relatively Undervalued - Generals category results for the year?

Buffett is STILL upset about that 1/8 point that Seabury tried to get out of him. 😂
Thanks, love the old letters. I still remember typewriters.
Me too!
