With the large accelerated filer deadline of Nov 12, I assumed that BRK will release its Q on Saturday, Nov 9 but maybe it’ll be the 2nd. Either way, it’ll be interesting to read.
Thanks! I didn’t even think of that. I always have the first weekend in November in my mind for Q3 results and just defaulted to that, but that might be wrong. I guess I’ll keep a lookout to see if there’s a press release next week announcing the 10-Q release.
I think it’s usually the first Saturday of November and maybe he will keep that schedule. But I think he could legally defer it a week.
I’m really interested in what he’s done with Apple. I noticed that he did the same “round number” thing with BofA for the final sale that took Berkshire below 10%, but then when BofA repurchase moved BRK above 10% again, he had to file for more sales to get under 10% again. My guess is that the round number for Apple doesn’t mean anything and he’s been continuing to sell — of course just speculation on my part. Of course, with Apple, we are way below 10% so we only get news every quarter.
I think it could go either way with Apple. But the round number theory definitely took a bit of a hit when he kept selling Bank of America after being at exactly 775 million shares.
Good call on November 2. Berkshire's press release confirmed the Saturday release. I wonder if I'm reading the deadline wrong since it is really unlike Buffett to voluntarily release news prior to the deadline! I am looking forward to knowing what he did with Apple and what the cash balance looks like. At least I know what I'll be doing all day on Saturday ... lol.
If I had even thought to check the deadline, I would have thought it would be next weekend too. I kind of luckily stumbled into this one! I actually had the intro to today’s article all written saying that I jumped the gun and Q3 earnings are November 9 and then had to rewrite it all after the press release on Wednesday. 🤣
