Editor Seth Klarman has thoughtfully complemented the Buffett-approved 1940 text with contemporary commentaries from the likes of Howard Marks and Todd Combs
Be aware, there's some troll going by cara responding to comments on this thread, something about the global elitists and MRNA. Oh my goodness. I would not click on their link.
Thanks for letting me know! It must have been a bot or something b/c I got the exact same comment on a bunch of my articles, but I think I've gotten them all removed now. Thanks again and have a great weekend :)
Great review, so do I have this right. This is identical to the 2nd edition apart from the additional material? As Buffett often said that later editions were a bit removed from the earlier ones. So this one has gone right back to the second edition? All the later modification has been removed?
Yes, that's exactly right. The Graham & Dodd chapters are all from the second edition (although a few of the chapters have been moved online to www.mhprofessional.com/SecurityAnalysis7 and can be downloaded for free). But between the book and the download-only chapters, the G&D material is all second edition.
Ok that's great. Is this from you reading it and realising it's the second edition? I cannot find anywhere that states the txt is second edition, only that it 'builds on the 6th edition'.
Right at the beginning there is a page that says it is the second edition. (I can't figure out how to post a photo of that page, so I'll just type out excerpts of what it says.)
"The second edition of Security Analysis is considered by many investors to be the definitive word from the most influential investment philosophers of our time ... This new edition retains many chapters from the classic 1940 edition, and also features lively and practical essays written by a stellar team of today's leading value investors and financial writers. The result is a contemporary bible of value investing ... Additional chapters from the 1940 second edition are available for download."
I think (but I'm not entirely positive) that between the many 1940 chapters in the book and the ones available to download for free, that it covers the entire 1940 second edition.
Thanks so much for this. With Buffett saying that he wasn't as fond of later editions, maybe the 3rd-5th departed from the 2nd and then from the 6th it went back again. As surely, the 2nd edition in original form with additional material is the best. Like Zweig chapters in the intelligent investor, thanks again.
Does Bruce Berkowitz still in the book?
No, the Todd Combs intro replaced the Berkowitz one.

Excellent, going to have to get a new edition, thanks. I like Todd and Ted the more time goes on, very grounded guys.
Yep, I really enjoy learning more about Todd and Ted's investing approach and history. Very glad to have them in the Berkshire fold.
