I may not have been lucky enough to stumble upon the teachings of Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger at a young age, but I can do my best to spread their message now.
I recently discovered your Substack and became an instant follower. The teachings of Buffett, Munger, Graham, Klarman, Lynch, etc., have profoundly shaped my investing philosophy. Your writing captures not just their investing principles, but their deeper philosophical approach in a way that resonates with the rising generation.
Your work reminded me of my own experience with Mr. Buffett's influence. Several years ago, I took a chance and sent him a manuscript I'd written, inspired by his teachings. To my amazement, he responded with a handwritten note months later. That unexpected gesture of generosity gave me the final push to bring my book to the world.
Like Mr. Buffett's gesture to me, your writing extends the legacy of these remarkable teachers to a new audience. You're creating a form of digital mentorship that makes their timeless wisdom relevant and accessible. I look forward to following your work.
Hi Cosmo - Thanks so much for your kind words! Much appreciated. It's always gratifying to have someone join up here who gets exactly what I'm trying to do with this newsletter. (That's so cool about Buffett's handwritten note back to you!)
I recently turned 16. I’m very interested in learning about AI, and i was using twitter to follow some researchers. I am quite glad to have come across your account, and thanks to you, I’ve been exposed to Buffett and Munger, both of which I find to be fascinating. Thanks for being that person for me.
Hi Alexander - Thanks so much for your kind words! It really means the world to me! I'm so glad that you've found this newsletter helpful and enjoy learning more about Buffett and Munger.
I also didn’t learn about Buffett and Munger in college despite majoring in finance. It’s only pure luck that Lowenstein’s biography of Buffett came out the summer I graduated and I had plenty of time to read it, being unemployed. Changed everything! You do a great job of covering all things related to BRK news.
I should be embarrassed to say I made it to my 70s without knowing anything about Warren Buffet and Berkshire Hathaway (other than name recognition). Thanks for educating this old gal and showing that it’s never too late to learn something new.
Charlie and Warren have long noted that their wisdom runs counter to academia's teachings on the same subjects. Charlie has often said that business school students should learn what the academy teaches for the test but practice Warren and Charlie's way after they graduate. Charlie also says that the old guard of physics could never accept the new physics. And if people that bright stay mired what can you expect from the business world! Moreover the business world makes money keeping Buffett/Munger wisdom quiet and boosting the wild trading encouraged in the mainstream media.
There's no doubt in my mind that reading and internalizing Buffett's letters and Charlie's speeches have made a much bigger impact on my life and mindset than any business school course I ever took. (And that's no slam against my college classes, which were excellent.)
