There is another poem Charlie referenced at a Daily Journal meeting, by George Sand, hailing the "Goddess of Poverty," who obliges the poor to till the soil and mine the mines. As Charlie said about politicians, if you ban them you will soon want them back. Here's a link and pray it works:

Link doesn't work. Oh! Never mind. Mark Tobak (above) has provided the correct link.

Another of Charlie's favorite poems came belatedly to mind:

"The thoughts of others

Were light and fleeting,

Of lover's meeting

Or luck or fame.

Mine were of trouble,

And mind were steady;

So I was ready

When trouble came."---A. E. Housman, "A Shropshire Lad"

Further exegesis, this pair of Charlie quotes:

"When I married the woman who helped me build this house, one of her relatives said, after meeting me, 'That is the oldest young man I've ever known.'"

"I always behaved like I was 100 years old, even when I was young."

I love that quote! It's actually going to be in the transcript coming out on Monday. Buffett agrees with him - and adds something like, "But now we're the youngest old guys you'll ever meet." 🤣
